What to expect at a lesson...
I teach using the National Standard Course of Study for Music Education. This offers a well-rounded music education curriculum and gives you a strong understanding and foundation to build and build and build upon as we go. My adherence to and understanding of this curriculum ensures you will gain knowledge that can take you in any direction you want to go musically.
I can teach you if you feel you are already talented and highly self-motivated or if you know nothing! Music is a journey, as so many musicians say, and you will soon have skills you did not know were even possible for you (and that's exciting for both of us!!)
- Goals focused on what YOU want to achieve
- Feedback from a practicing musician and performer in the local Washington DC music community
- Specific and clear concepts/skills to work on each week
- Honest and positive assessment of your strengths and points of improvement
- Motivation in a way that works (practice logs, stickers, learning your favorite songs, high fives, celebratory dances...)
- Performance opportunities (studio house concerts, recitals, community events, open mics...)
- Celebration of your talents while giving you a clear path to what you want to become
